Riis Staff Attends City Hall Rally for #JustPay

Did you know that current New York City and State contracts have resulted in the human services workforce being some of the lowest paid workers in New York’s economy? Last month, Riis was proud to join over 1,000 essential workers, elected officials, and community members at City Hall Park for the #JustPay Rally. The #JustPay campaign, a citywide initiative launched by the Human Services Council, advocates fiercely for fair wages for government-contracted human services workers. Hundreds of these essential service providers, including multiple settlement houses, gathered at City Hall to demand a living wage floor of at least $21 an hour, an automatic annual cost of living adjustment (COLA) on all human service contracts, and comprehensive benefits comparable to city and state employees in the same field. You can read more about this important campaign here.
