Queensbridge NSTAT Program

NeighborhoodStat is the driving mechanism behind MAP. It brings together City agencies, local residents, and community stakeholders.

Mayor's Action Plan for Neighborhood Safety (MAP) aims to create safe and strong neighborhoods, increasing public safety through community and government joint problem-solving. MAP addresses crime in 15 specified NYCHA communities and invests in people through economic/ social support to promote vibrant, well-maintained neighborhoods. MAP ensures systems are fair and strengthens the residents' and government's ability to work together and trust one another.

NeighborhoodStat is the driving mechanism behind MAP. It brings together City agencies, local residents, and community stakeholders to identify site-specific and citywide system solutions to neighborhood public safety concerns.

Under the Queensbridge MAP Engagement coordinator, resident stakeholders identify and address the root causes of public safety issues in our community through a number of projects and initiatives.

Current Initiatives:

  • Investing in and Revitalizing Queensbridge Gardens and Green Spaces
  • Community Workshops, including:
    • Therapeutic Drumming workshop
    • Herbal Tea Making Class
    • Self Defense Classes
    • Shamanic Tibetan Healing workshop
  • Community Mural Planning

All Queensbridge residents are eligible to complete an application in person at 10-25 41st Avenue, LIC, NY 11101. Ideal candidates should be passionate about helping the community, solution-oriented, eager to learn new skills, and willing to engage and work well with others in their development. The Stakeholder Team will set priority areas and invite representatives from MAP partner community-based organizations and City agencies whose work most directly overlaps with those priorities. Community-based organizations and City agency representatives can email the MAP Engagement  Coordinator for further information and other ways to get involved.

MAP Stakeholder Team members will commit to an average of 10 hours a month. During busy seasons (ex. summer, project implementation, etc.) members will be asked to volunteer additional hours. Members will attend 3-4 activities per month, including meetings, trainings, public events, and/or community benefit projects.
