On Wednesday, January 22 at 11 am, Riis Settlement, NY Hospital Queens, and TransCanada will officially launch our new permanent pediatric mobile asthma unit, which will make its home in Queensbridge twice weekly beginning that week. There will be an (indoor) celebration and remarks by stakeholders and local elected officials, followed by a ribbon cutting and tours of the van for members of the community. This mobile pediatric asthma unit will be parked in front of Riis Settlement in Queensbridge and will be staffed by a full team of doctors, nurses, case managers and a social worker. Riis Settlement will provide an indoor check in and waiting area, rest room facilities, and storage, and will refer participants to and receive referrals from NY Hospital Queens , as appropriate. We hope you can join us as we launch this vital initiative to address the scourge of pediatric asthma in Western Queens, made possible by funding from TransCanada and the NYC Economic Development Corporation.
