Mid-Autumn Festival

Our NNORC team hosted our second annual Mid-Autumn Festival celebration in our older adult center, welcoming not only our Asian participants but also older adults of all backgrounds to honor this wonderful tradition.

Attendees enjoyed a diverse and delicious assortment of food, including lo mein, egg rolls, spring rolls, and dumplings. Moon cakes, a traditional Chinese dessert, were also served, symbolizing the full moon and the unity of family and friends. Participants engaged in storytelling and learned to make lanterns together.

Vincent, a former Riis Community Solutions Program fellow, joined us from Singapore via Zoom, much to the delight of those who remembered him from his fellowship in Queensbridge. We were thrilled to have over 60 attendees at the celebration and are grateful for the chance to embrace and celebrate our diverse community.
