Immigrant Services Team Welcomes New Staff

Thanks to funding from the New York City Council, our Immigrant Services team has added two new staff positions as part of an ESOL pilot program. We are excited to welcome volunteer coordinator Ievgeniia Lavrenishyna and curriculum specialist Debbie Horwitz! Ievgeniia has been recruiting and training volunteers to be English tutors, giving our ESOL students the opportunity to participate in 1-on-1 online conversation practice outside of their classes. Debbie is designing a digital literacy curriculum with the goal of helping students learn the technological skills needed to participate in day-to-day life here in New York. She will train our ESOL teachers to integrate this curriculum into their classes. We are excited for this opportunity to expand upon our current offerings for adult English language learners.
