Immigrant Services Legal Clinics

This May, our Immigrant Services program launched a series of legal clinics offering application assistance to newly arrived migrants and asylum-seekers. For our first clinic on May 24, 17 dedicated volunteers assisted with 14 applications for Temporary Protected Status, work permits, and asylum. One volunteer stated that it felt “ very good and meaningful” to show up for those needing her assistance. Our second clinic was held on June 21 and was equally successful, with nine volunteers helping complete 12 work permits. Our volunteers rated the experience as a five out of five and would volunteer with Riis in the future.

We are looking forward to our next and final clinic on July 19. If you are interested in volunteering, click here to apply as a volunteer. No prior experience is needed, and training will be provided.
